WWP Crime Posted 3/4/08 CASE #: 2008-3466 INCIDENT: Unlawful possession of a weapon, Possession of a weapon on School Property DATE/TIME OCCURRED: 03/03/08 @ 1440 hours LOCATION OCCURRED: West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North WHO: (ARRESTED) Juvenile 16 year old male (WW-P HS North student) West Windsor Resident DETAILS: On the above date and time, Detective Robert Fleming was contacted by School officials to conduct an investigation into a student found in possession of weapon at West Windsor Plainsboro High School North. Upon meeting with school officials, the student, and the student’s guardian, it was determined that the student brought an 18” Samurai sword and a black glove containing lead in the knuckles to school. The student and guardian responded to Plainsboro Police HQ’s were he was processed and served with juvenile delinquency complaints, charging him with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of weapon on school grounds The student was subsequently released to his guardian pending a future court appearance. When the victim got up, he realized his backpack, valued at $35.00 and containing a $350.00 Blackberry handheld computer and a $200 Samsung cell phone, along with personal papers and house keys, were taken. After discovering the victim did not have any money on him, the subject fled the area on foot. Brett Olma Posted 4/30/07 CASE #: 07-6435 INCIDENT: Fatal Motorcycle Wreck DATE/TIME OCCURRED: Monday April 30, 2007 at 11:59 am LOCATION OCCURRED: Nostrand Road, Plainsboro WHO: (OTHER) Fabian Rodriguez, 20 YOA male 4036 North Long Valley Road, Hernando, Fl 34442 DETAILS: Plainsboro Police responded to a single vehicle motorcycle wreck on N/B Nostrand Road approx. ¾ mile East of Cranbury Neck Road. Rodriguez was operating a 1996 Honda motorcycle when he lost control and went off of the traveled portion of the roadway. The motorcycle entered a drainage ditch for approx 250 feet before the driver was catapulted off into a telephone pole. He sustained major body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. The roadway was dry and the weather was clear and sunny. driver 17 yoa passenger DETAILS: A 17 yoa driver operating a 2004 Honda Pilot, lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole on Grovers Mill Rd. causing the pole to become sheared in half. The pole fell across the vehicle and roadway, making the roadway impassable. All four juvenile occupants were uninjured and left the scene with family members. The roadway was closed from 1500 hrs. on Mar. 7th until the early hours of Mar. 8th after the area was made safe by PSE&G. Power was off at several traffic lights and communities throughout the Township. The driver was summoned for careless driving and violating his provisional license by having multiple underage passengers in the vehicle. INVESTIGATING

Andre Pankratov, 3 ½ YOA DETAILS: Police responded to a report of a struck pedestrian on George Davison Road at Plainsboro Road. Upon arrival, initial responding officers, Ptl. Joseph Diggs and Cpl. Scott Seitz, located two struck pedestrians, noted above, on George Davison Road at Ashford Drive. Both pedestrians were seriously injured and the officers began treating them immediately. Additional assistance from responding Plainsboro Police Officers and the Plainsboro Twp. Vol. Fire Dept, Plainsboro Vol. Rescue Squad, PPPL Rescue Squad, RWJ Paramedics and Plainsboro DPW helped secure the scene. The victims were flown to RWJ, New Brunswick, by Northstar Medical Chopper for treatment. They were last reported to be in critical condition. At 10:55 P.M., Andre Pankratov was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. Tatyana Yaroslavskaya is still in critical condition at RWJ Hospital. Driver Carrola was traveling north on George Davison Road when he saw Yaroslavskaya pushing Pankratov in a stroller across George Davison Road, from Tennyson Drive eastbound to Ashford Drive. Carrola was unable to stop prior to striking the pedestrians. There is not a crosswalk on George Davison Road at this location. The streets only illuminate the side streets (Ashford and Thoreau). Yaroslavskaya was wearing a dark brown jacket. The case remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed. George Davison Road was closed to traffic until 21:20 hours while the on-scene investigation was under way. Cranbury Twp. Police assisted with those road closings. LOCATION OCCURRED: Aquaduct Park, Mapleton Rd., Plainsboro WHO: (ARRESTED) DETAILS: Since June 2005, Plainsboro Township Police Department has been investigating multiple burglaries/thefts from vehicles occurring in the parking area at the D&R Canal on Mapleton Road. Victims reported cash and personal items being removed from their respective vehicles after the actor had forcibly entered their cars. Based on a tip from a concerned citizen, police responded to a suspicious vehicle located at Aquaduct Park on March 29, 2006. Upon arrival, a blue 1992 Buick LaSabre was discovered in the parking lot. A vehicle fitting that description had been reported at several previous crime scenes along the canal. The vehicle's owner, Bruce Michael, was found fishing nearby. Following a brief field interview, Michael consented to a search of his vehicle. A pry bar, knifes and several screwdrivers were found in the vehicle trunk. Michael voluntarily accompanied detectives to Plainsboro Township Police Department for further investigation. Following the interview, detectives from Plainsboro and South Brunswick accompanied Michael to his residence and conducted a consensual search of his home. Michael voluntarily accompanied the detectives to South Brunswick Police Department HQ's for a second interview. Information was developed leading to the following charges against Michael: (4) Counts of Burglary; (3) Counts of Theft; (4) Counts of Criminal Mischief; and (1) Count of Possession of Burglary Tools. Additional charges were issued by the South Brunswick Police Department for incidents occurring in their jurisdiction. Bangura 25 yoa, Electrician DETAILS: Police were summoned to a Quail Ridge Dr. apartment by a mother concerned that her 9 year old son may have been sexually assaulted. A joint investigation between the Plainsboro Township Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that the 9 year old boy and his 13 year old sister were both sexually assaulted by Bangura in separate incidents. Bangura had taken up residence with a friend a few buildings from the victims and approached the children after school when they were unsupervised. Bangura was arrested and charged with two (2) counts of Sexual Assault and two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Bangura was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility on $250,000.00 cash bail. INVESTIGATING OFFICER: Det. #2: John R. Vogen, 41 YOA DETAILS: Joglekar was traveling south on George Davison Road when she crossed Cranbury Neck Road against a red traffic light. Her vehicle was stuck broadside by Vogen's vehicle as it was traveling east on Cranbury Neck Road. The resulting collision caused the closure of the intersection. Emergency services from Cranbury Fire Dept., Cranbury First Aid Squad, Plainsboro Fire Dept., Plainsboro Volunteer First Aid Squad, Cranbury Police and Plainsboro Police responded. Vogen was transported to Princeton Medical Center for injuries sustained. Joglekar was transported to Robert Wood Johnson medical Center in New Brunswick for injuries sustained. A 10-year old rear seat passenger was trapped in the back of Joglekar's auto and had to be cut free from the vehicle. NJSP North Star arrived on scene and flew the youth to RWJ medical center. There is no update on the youth's condition at this time.

Patel, 44 YOA Patel was operating a 2002 Toyota Sienna on Grovers Mill Road when he fell asleep, crossed over the opposing lane and struck three (3) street signs and knocked over a utility pole containing electric and utility lines. These 7600-volt lines caused two fires to start. One fire was in the street and the other near a sidewalk. The pole was snapped in three places and wires were strewn across numerous parts of the roadway and residents front yards. Plainsboro Fire and Rescue departments along with PSEG, Comcast Cable, Verizon and Plainsboro Public Works were dispatched. The fires could not be extinguished until power was cut to the lines. The driver was able to get himself out of the van and was not hurt. The van sustained heavy front end damage. An investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI and issued MV summonses for DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain a travel lane. He was ROR after processing. The road had to be closed between Maple Avenue/Grovers Mill Road and Cranbury Road (West Windsor)/Grovers Mill Road for approx. 12 hours while the lines were restrung and the roadway patched. The road sustained a deep 25-foot slice from the burning wires. A large portion of the township lost power for approximately 45-60 minutes. The road is still closed at the time of this release. HIGH SCHOOL NORTH CAMPUS DETAILS: THE WEST WINDSOR - PLAINSBORO HIGH SCHOOL NORTH CAMPUS WAS EVACUATED DUE TO A SMALL FIRE WHICH WAS STARTED ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE SCHOOL IN A HALLWAY. An 8" BY 11" PAPER FLYER WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO A CINDER BLOCK WALL IN THE HALLWAY HAD BEEN IGNITED. A CORNER OF THE PAPER WAS BURNT. A SCHOOL OFFICIAL SMELLED SMOKE AND ACTIVATED THE FIRE ALARM. Diggs located a sliver Chevy truck hidden in the woods off of Scudders Mill Road although the 2 males could not be found. The truck was determined to be owned by Dennis K. Sloan. Sloan turned himself into the police and subsequent investigation determined he was cutting down bushes for his personal business. 52 YOA DETAILS: Schoonmaker was operating a Dapper School bus occupied by 13 students from Community Middle school in Plainsboro. He was exiting from Pheasant Hollow Drive and was intending to proceed onto W/B Dey Road (left turn). He turned in front of the path of Khanna's van while she was traveling on E/B Dey Road. The bus struck the vans front end with his left front bumper and tire which forced the van across the road into the W/B lane of Dey Road. The van received heavy front end damage along with activated airbags. The school bus was only moderately damaged. Schoonmaker received a citation for failing to yield after proceeding from a stop sign. Dey Road was shut down at this location for approx. 45 minutes until the vehicles were removed. Khanna was transported to Princeton Medical Center by Plainsboro Twp. EMS for chest pain. Schoonmaker and the 13 students were not injured.

John Bresnen stopped a 1999 Audi for running a red signal on Scudders Mill Road. A search was conducted when the police detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from within the passenger compartment. Further investigation revealed a passenger in the vehicle to be in possession of marijuana u/50 gms and drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released to his parents pending a future action by Mercer County Family Court. INVESTIGATING OFFICER: Ptl. C. Smith, 42 YOA Sheila Hudgins, 41 YOA DETAILS: Ptl. Jason Mariano stopped a 2001 Olds operated by Hudgins due to no rear tag lamps. Subsequent investigation revealed, Smith, a front seat passenger to have numerous active warrants. A search of the vehicle revealed a bowling bag on the rear seat containing two plastic bags containing numerous banded bundles of US currency. Bag #1 contained 5 bundles (4 totaling $5,000 each, 1 totaling $1,000); Bag #2 contained 5 bundles (4 totaling $5,000 each, 1 totaling $2,000). Also located was a marijuana cigarette. Due to the large quantity of currency and packaging of same specifically banded in increments of $1,000 within $5,000 bundles, and mostly consisting of $20 bills a K-9 was requested for a currency sniff. Ptl. Shawn Emmons and his K-9, Zilke, responded to Plainsboro HQ's. Zilke immediately gave a positive alert on the US currency. The $43,000 was then seized as suspected drug proceeds. Smith was TOT West Windsor PD due to their warrant. He was also issued a MV summons for seatbelt violation. Hudgins was charged with possession of marijuana u/50 gms. She was also issued MV summons for maintenance of lamps and CDS in a MV. She was ROR'd pending a future court appearance. Caprio, 19 YOA One Male Juvenile from Hamilton, NJ DETAILS: Ptl. Wurpel and Sgt. Jankowski were dispatched to the above location for persons shooting BB guns out of the window. Upon arrival found occupants (listed above) to be in possession of three compressed gas powered pellet handguns, numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, marijuana and a large amount of ecstasy were in plain view. Detectives Blanchard and Cier obtained a search warrant for the residence. The search warrant yielded additional ecstasy, psilocybin mushrooms, hash, additional weapons, and evidence of drug distribution. A total of 300 ecstasy tablets and 6.8 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms were seized. Assisting with the search and seizures was Ptl. Emmons of Washington Twp. Police Dept. and his K-9 Zelkie. Larkin and Caprio were charged with reckless endangerment, use of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Larkin and Caprio were released ROR. The juvenile was released and charges are pending. Cordiano and Ouyang were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes, possession and distribution of ecstasy, possession and distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of a firearm during distribution of CDS, distribution of CDS within 500 feet of a public facility, possession of hash, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles. Follow-up investigation resulted in the arrest of Brian Grossano, who lives in an adjacent building. Grossano mistakenly entered the wrong apartment. Arevalo, 35 YOA DETAILS: On the above date/time, the accused Arevalo while driving a black 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck was observed making an improper pass when he passed three vehicles on Dey Road s/b using the shoulder of the roadway. Det. George Cier who was traveling n/b on Dey Rd. in an unmarked police unit immediately turned around and pursued Arevalo. Arevalo began to elude the officer by traveling at high speeds through a residential community before entering into a business complex off of Schalks Crossing Road. Det. Cier caught up to Arevalo as he parked and exited his vehicle in the company's parking lot. Arevalo then presented a fraudulent NJ driver's license to Det. Cier and gave false information as to his identity. A subsequent search revealed that Arevalo concealed his work id card in his shoe and further investigation showed Arevalo also had a fraudulent social security card and Puerto Rican birth certificate which were later seized from his residence. It was determined that Arevalo possessed the documents to defraud his motor vehicle insurance carrier due to the high number of points on his own driver's license. The NJ State Police, Office of Counter Terrorism responded to further investigate how Arevalo was able to obtain the false documents. Arevalo was charged criminally with Eluding, Exhibiting a Fraudulent DL, possessing a fraudulent DL, Obstruction of the law and hindering apprehension. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper passing, reckless driving, obtaining a driver's license illegally, falsifying an application for a driver's license, and applying for a driver's license while suspended. Arevalo may also face federal document fraud and insurance fraud charges pending further investigation. Arevalo was released after posting a $2,000 bail. 18 YOA A 17- year old male juvenile DETAILS: Ptl. Wurpel observed three suspicious vehicle's in the Quail Ridge Drive apartment complex. Upon attempting to investigate further based on recent auto thefts, the vehicles exited in two directions. Patrol attempted to stop two of the vehicles (Black Acura Integra and Grey Honda Civic) on Scudders Mill Road. The black Acura Integra disregarded patrols attempt to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was terminated on US Rt. 1 N/B @ Sayre Drive for public safety concerns. The Acura was later located and impounded in New Brunswick, NJ. The Honda Civic was stopped on Scudders Mill Road. Burglary tools and contraband were located within the vehicle. The occupants, Ortega, Batista and a 17 year old juvenile were arrested and charged with possession of burglary tools. Ortega and Batista were remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center on $20,000 cash bail. Patrol was unable to locate the third vehicle involved. INVESTIGATING

DETAILS: Corporal Tavener stopped a silver Hyundai on a report of the driver, Ciabattone drinking vodka in the parking lot of the Plainsboro Plaza and having an unclear rear license plate.
